VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways Certificate WORK RELATED SKILLS Activity Tasks

  • Between 2023 and 2025, LLENs are central to the Department of Education’s School to Work (S2W) Program, which aims to strengthen pathways from education into employment. This initiative enhances access to work-based learning opportunities such as Structured Workplace Learning (SWL), School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs), and industry immersion experiences. These opportunities are designed to build students' employability skills, expand their industry understanding, and support informed career decision-making.

An essential element of the School to Work Program is supporting the Senior Secondary Pathways Reforms (SSPR), which include the introduction of the VCE Vocational Major (VM) and the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). These reforms are reshaping senior secondary education in Victoria by embedding vocational learning into mainstream pathways and offering students more flexible, hands-on learning experiences.

In response to feedback from several South West Victorian schools, SWLLEN identified a need for high-quality teaching and assessment resources to support the Work Related Skills strand of the VCE VM and VPC curriculum. This resource has been developed to meet that need, assisting educators in delivering engaging, relevant, and curriculum-aligned content that helps students prepare for real-world work environments.

South West LLEN gratefully acknowledges the expertise and contributions of Narelle Holliday from Cobden Technical School and Russell Moody from Brauer College in the development of this resource.
